For 3 years, Barry Dorshimer drove a 40 foot, 31,000 pound, 78 passenger, yellow stretched limousine, mostly it was called a school bus for the Whitehall-Coplay School District, in Whitehall, Pennsylvania. He also drove a school bus for Whitehall Township's Camp Whitehall summer program.

In June of 2003, he retired from PPL Electric Utilities Corporation in Allentown, Pennsylvania, after 37 years of service as a designer in electrical drafting.

As a representative of PPL Electric Utilities Corporation, he won 11 National Awards from the National Safety Council's Public Utilities Division in their Annual Safety Poster Contest. He also served as the Chairperson of the PPL Electric Utilities Corporation's Safety and Health Committee at their General Office Complex in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which consisted of 66 floors including a 23-story tower.

Unfortunately, he required surgery in September of 2007 to repair a detached retina in his left eye. During the 4-month period of recuperation, he could not drive a school bus due to the loss of some vision in his left eye. As he waited for his eye to heal, he decided to write this book, SCHOOL BUS WISDOM.
